Re: Has finally received authors' copies from [Robert] Jamieson [presumably for Lyell 's & Murchison's paper "On the Excavation of Valleys, as illustrated by the Volcanic Rocks of Central France", 'Edinburgh New Philosophical Journal', vol 7 (1829), pp15-48]; [William] Lonsdale is keen that George Poulett Scrope's paper '"On the gradual Excavation of Valleys..." be read at the OGM straight after Murchison's but Lyell thinks it should be at a separate meeting; his forthcoming article on Saussure; asks Murchison' thoughts on [John] Fleming's 'shot at C L B' and quotes William Buckland's opinion; distribution of ?authors' copies of their article. |
