Re: is staying with Major Power, who is married to his wife Mary's aunt, his sister-in-law Frances is also there; has just returned from a whistlestop tour of Switzerland, France and Italy, but did not have time to pick up much more information than he had from his previous excursions with Murchison [in 1828]; brings to Murchison's attention a recent memoir by Pasini which attacks Murchison's paper on the Alps which was published in the Philosophical Magazine in 1829 and, from Lyell's investigations, seems to have been set up by Ami Boué; Lyell's opinion and description of Pasini's paper. |
Administrative History | Roderick Murchison made reference to the paper by Pasini in his Presidential Address of 1833, see: Proceedings, vol 1 (1833), p458. |
