Re: is working on the stratigraphical succession of Limestone and Quartz Rock of the west coast of Sutherland and its connection to the Old Red Sandstone formation, with ink sections of Caithness and Assynt; has recovered from his recent illness and was underground in Dalkeith in the Duke of Buccleugh's coal pit examining footprints; describes 'a young man in Edinburgh' - Archibald Geikie - who 'promises to make a thorough geologist'. |
