DescriptionMurchison correspondence: letter from Hugh MILLER, to Professor John Fleming, [c.1850]. Re: Like Fleming, a recent illness has confined him to his room; regrets that he stated that graptolites had been detected in the Grauwacke of Banffshire in 'Footprints' and plans to correct it in a forthcoming edition, his authority on the subject was Dr Emslie of Banff a collector of Old Red Sandstone fossils, states unless something conclusive turns up the oldest organisms yet found are the 'ichthyolites' of the Lower Old Red Sandstone.
