Description
Murchison correspondence: letter from John Samuel MILLER, Bristol, 18 Oct 1826. Re: Thanks Murchison for the kind offer of financial help, however after consulting with the Deans and Richard Bright he feels it is highly unlikely the Bristol Institution can afford to purchase the mineral collection of Sir Alexander Crichton; glad that Murchison has made a tour of the Highland Islands and Orkney and is pleased that his paper on belmnites has received both Murchison's and his wife Charlotte's approval; Thomas Webster has visited the Bristol Institution so can give Murchison an account of their progress; invites Murchison and his wife to pay a visit when next in town.
Administrative History
Previously known as Johann Samuel Müller, John Samuel Miller was the first Museum curator of the Bristol Institution.
