Administrative HistoryThe below refers to the 'Maidstone Iguanodon' which was found in the quarry belonging to W H Bensted. Mantell offered £10 for it, but Bensted wanted £25. Mantell's friends David Ricardo and Horace Smith organised a collection to purchase the fossil which was presented to Mantell for his museum in August 1834.
