Re: discusses Murchison's fossil fox specimen, and is keen to read his forthcoming paper [Murchison, R I. "On a Fossil Fox found at Œningen near Constance; with an Account of the Deposit in which it was imbedded", 'Transactions of the Geological Society of London', series 2, vol 3 (1832), pp277-290]; comments on Georges Cuvier's description of the genus; hoping for some Lias specimens from Mary Anning through Mrs Murchison; Anning's discovery of a possible new species of fossil fish 'with curling iron eyes' [?squaloraja], wonders if Buckland has yet to see it; is eager that Murchison pays him a visit soon; passes on the regards of Mr Hawkins senior to Charles Lyell.
