Description | Murchison correspondence: letter from John PHILLIPS, York, 24 May 1832. Re: the decision by 'K.C.' [presumably King's College London] and his intention of instead going to Oxford; a drawing of a Didelphine jaw requested by Charles Lyell; pleased with Murchison's praise for his 'Geology of Yorkshire' [at the AGM 17 Feb 1832]; John MacCulloch's resignation as honorary member of the Yorkshire Philosophical Society; Phillips' next volume of 'Geology of Yorkshire'; establishment of the Wollaston Fund and Phillips' survey of oolites [Wollaston Fund was given to William Lonsdale to study oolitic formations]; is likely to present his findings on a coal tract to the British Association rather than wait for the Geological Society to reconvene. Postscript regarding arrangements for the forthcoming British Association meeting in Oxford. |
