DescriptionMurchison correspondence: letter from Benjamin SILLIMAN, Yale, USA, 23 May 1856. Re: grieved to hear of the death of Sir Henry De la Beche, but is pleased that his role [as Director of the Geological Survey] has been delegated to Murchison, requests a suite of British fossils for Yale; has retired from his role as instructor, but Professor Dana and his son Benjamin jnr will take his place; will shortly send a suite of fossils from Connecticut collected by Professor Charles W Shepard.
