DescriptionMurchison correspondence: letter from Edward Tracy TURNERELLI, 18 Walton Villas, Ovington Square, Brompton, 18 Jan 1855. Re: Has received a letter from Dr Shaw informing him that he had not been successful in his application for Librarian [at the Royal Geographical Society], but is grateful for Murchison's efforts to secure him the position; consoles himself in thinking that it was probably for the best but hopes that Murchison will not give up on him, still hopes to find a situation but rues it wasn't that role as it would have placed him under Murchison's 'special notice and protection'; the Duke of Newcastle has noted that he wishes to obtain an occupation but is not optimistic.
