Description | Murchison correspondence: letter from Henry WITHAM, Great King Street, [Edinburgh], 29 Mar 1828. Re: Much obliged to Mr and Mrs Murchison for a box of supermedial and superior fossils; was in York the previous week searching for fossils from the New Red Sandstone and was pleased to find that the York Museum will present him with duplicate specimens which will be selected by John Phillips whom he praises; briefly references Murchison's ideas on the W & NW of Scotland; large assortment of fish from ?Moniskirk to be lithographed which he will willingly share with Murchison; will await instruction from Murchison and Sedgwick before he continues with his research which touches upon the same subject as the two men are investigating; envious of Mr & Mrs Murchison's forthcoming trip to the Auvergne, references mutual friends in Yorkshire and foxhunting. |
