Description | Murchison correspondence: letter from Henry WITHAM, Edinburgh, 12 Dec 1828. Re: Has heard that Mr & Mrs Murchison has returned from the Continent and is keen to hear the result of their labours; has long been awaiting Murchison's and Sedgwick's account of Caithness having spent the previous summer there; wonders if Thomas Webster received his letter about purchasing 'Characteristic fossils of different deposits from the Lias upwards' as he thinks his collection is too scanty for serious study, however he and Mr Nicol have devoted three hours a day to the study of fossils; forthcoming display of Indian rocks at the Wernerian Society, recent article by William Nicol on fluid contained in crystallized mica in Jameson's journal; David Brewster's non-attendance is a loss to the Royal Society. |
