| Description | Murchison correspondence: letter from Henry WITHAM, 6 Mar 1831. Re: Re: congratulates Murchison on his election as President of the Geological Society; saw Charles Lyell who will give Murchison a description of the fossil tree found at Craigleith Quarry, describes other parts of the fossil he has also discovered and his friend Dr Graham is very excited by the finds; has read a paper on the subject to a number of societies, believes that great practical utility will come from the examination of these fossils found in the mountain limestone and coalfields; looking for a book on the geology of New Zealand for the brother of Sir C Forbes. |
