Description | Murchison correspondence: letter from Henry WITHAM, 26 Aug 1831. Re: Disappointed he could not join Mr and Mrs Murchison in 'wandering over the eastern Yorkshire coast', but will be delighted to hear Murchison's remarks on the greywacke; sent to Lyell and the Society casts of footprints from the Red Sandstone of Dumfries along with copies of his paper on the Craigleith fossil tree, describes another large fragment of the fossil tree which has since been found, has had a machine made to cut recent woods to make comparisons; discovery of numerous fishes upon cutting a magnesian hill at Mainsforth. |
