| Description | A hand drawn section by Henry Grey Bennet, illustrating the dyke at Beadnell, in Northumberland, more specifically the different strata adjacent to the dyke, what they consist of and their relative depth in feet. The different strata illustrated are limestone, tuff, black metal and argillaceous slate, limestone, slaty and micaceous sandstone and black metal and a thin seam of coal. A note at the bottom reveals that this information was obtained from “the proprietor of the lime works” rather than from examination of the strata itself. |
