| Description | Search for Sir John Franklin: "Copy of letter addressed by Lady Franklin to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated 24th day of February 1854, in reference to their Lordships' Announcement in the London Gazette of the 20th day of January 1854, respecting the Officers and Crews of Her Majesty's Ships 'Erebus' and Terror'; and a copy of such Notice", ordered to be printed by the House of Commons, 24 March 1854. Lady Franklin's letter argues against the Admiralty's notice of 19 January 1854, to consider the officers and crew in Franklin's expedition deceased if no further word is heard to the contrary. |
