Administrative HistoryThe 'Map Committee' was the Committee for the Purchase of Maps, which was established to inquire whether the leading publishers of maps on the continent would be willing to supply the Society in exchange for a number of copies of Greenough's ‘Geological Map of England & Wales' (1820).
