Description | Letter from Charles Murray Cathcart, Lord GREENOCK, Edinburgh, to George Bellas Greenough, 22 Sep 1833. Re: The Highland Society of Scotland has set up a committee to address the subject of a lack of a geological map of Scotland, with Greenock appointed as its convenor, is asking Greenough and the Geological Society's members for support as shown for the 'Geological Map of England and Wales (1820)'; knows that John MacCulloch has long been engaged in research for a map of Scotland, and is keen that any incomplete research be turned over to the Highland Society to be completed, believing that there will be little in the way of public benefit from MacCulloch's work. |
