Description | Letter from James SKENE, to George Bellas Greenough, written on reverse of letter to Skene from John Gibb, civil engineer, 7 Jan 1824. Gibb describes the geographical extent of the granite in Aberdeen and compares the disparity in the levels of feldspar with that of Cornwall granite; the superior quality of Aberdeen granite and local masons in construction. On the reverse are notes by Greenough on the measurement (with thumbnail sketch) of the arch constructed by Ross and the Aberdeen masons at the new docks at Dublin. |
