Administrative History | The intention was that Thomas Webster would undertake the colouring of George Bellas Greenough's 'Geological Map of England & Wales (1820), but William Ebden was also commissioned to help with the colouring - presumably to cope with the presumed demand for copies during its first year of publication. These instructions were probably given to Ebden for this purpose. A number of the entries contain phrases such as "the same as Mr W's" - that is the same as Thomas Webster's colouring. |
