DescriptionGeorge Bellas GREENOUGH's own copy of his 'Geological Map of England and Wales', (1820). The sheets are annotated in pencil and ink by Greenough, with comments and bibliographic references to works by Henry De la Beche and John Stevens Henslow and remains found in bone caves. Around Wales, Greenough makes reference to the Silurian system, which was not defined until the first half of the 1830s. Only three of the four sheets survive, Northeast sheet is missing. Sectioned on linen.
