Description'Map of Scotland constructed from original materials...', published by Aaron Arrowsmith, 1810. The sea, edges of coast and lochs have been roughly painted in strong blue watercolour. Dissected on cloth into four sheets.
Administrative HistoryThe two Arrowsmith maps at LDGSL/947/6/C/3-4 respectively also have the seas and lakes filled in with colour, although considerably lighter in hue. This map therefore may be an early [aborted] preparation for a draft of Daniel Sharpe's & George Bellas Greenough's map of Scotland in 1851-1852, see LDGSL/702.
ProvenanceFound in drawer in Map Library housing maps which had not been catalogued onto the new system as they were deemed non-geological. The origins of the map are unclear as other than the colouring there are no annotations. However its similarity to the following two maps, means that it has been placed in this section.
