DescriptionGeological colouring probably by George Bellas Greenough and Daniel Sharpe, with pencil and ink annotations by Greenough, [1851-1852] with incomplete key, on base 'Map of Scotland constructed from original materials...', published by Aaron Arrowsmith, 1810. The annotations frequently reference works by others, the latest being Edward Forbes' "On the Estuary Beds and the Oxford Clay at Loch Staffin, in Skye", QJGS, vol 7 (1851). No Greenough number. Scale-1:250,000, 180cm x 108cm. Dissected on cloth.
Administrative HistoryThis map is likely to have formed part of the research for the Greenough & Sharpe map of Scotland of 1852. See LDGSL/702. Thomas Sheppard's list records the date of the map as being c.1853.
