Administrative HistoryUnderneath the cloth it states 'Cumberland geolog colored by Mr Fryer'. According to the Memoir to Greenough's 'Geological Map of England & Wales' (1820), Joseph H Fryer of Lysick Hall, Cumberland, sent Greenough three maps coloured geologically in 1814 - Cumberland, Westmorland and Durham - which aided his research in compiling the map. This item is presumably one of these.
