DescriptionGeological colouring over western half, with a small number of notes, by George Bellas Greenough, [21 January 1839] on base map 'North Riding of Yorkshire', by J & C Walker, published by Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown & Co, 1836. Scale-1:380,000, 41 x 36cm. No legible Greenough number.
Administrative HistoryOn the top right of the map is a partial note by Greenough recording that the map was "colored according to Walker's map of England Jan 21 1839". This is likely to refer to J & C Walker and J A Knipe's 'A geological map of England and Wales, showing also the inland navigation by means of rivers and canals, with their elevation in feet above the sea, together with the rail roads & principal roads. London: J & C. Walker..' (first edition 1835).

Likely to have formed part of the research for the second edition of Greenough's Geological Map of England & Wales' (1840).
