DescriptionGeological colouring, with a small number of notes, by George Bellas Greenough, [1839] on base map 'West Riding of Yorkshire', by J & C Walker, published by Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown & Co, 1836 Greenough no.2730. Scale-1:380,000, 35 x 43cm.
Administrative HistoryOn the top right of the map is a partial note by Greenough, which is more legible on the relating map for North Riding, indicating that the map was "colored according to Walker's map of England". This is likely to refer to J & C Walker and J A Knipe's 'A geological map of England and Wales, showing also the inland navigation by means of rivers and canals, with their elevation in feet above the sea, together with the rail roads & principal roads. London: J & C. Walker..' (first edition 1835).

On the bottom of the sheet is annotated "all this information has been inserted in the large map of Yorkshire, May 1839", however it is unclear to which of the following two maps this might refer.

Likely to have formed part of the research for the second edition of Greenough's Geological Map of England & Wales' (1840).
