Administrative History | Most of the maps in this section formed part of the research for Greenough's 'Physical and Geological Map of India' (1854). Greenough began work on the map around 1843, and a manuscript version was largely completed by the summer of 1852. He showed a copy of it at a lecture given to he Asiatic Society on 19 February 1853. A lithographic version was prepared in July 1854, and hand coloured in July-August 1854. Two drafts of the completed maps can be found at: LDGSL/947/5/2 |
