Description | [Outlines of the Mineral Geography of the Environs of Lewes], by Gideon Algernon MANTELL, [?Febr22uary 1817], manuscript draft of a proposed published work comprising a description of the main strata of the area, with listings of the fossils found therein. Includes ten pages of hand coloured mss sections and depictions of fossils by Mantell. Item has been bound with a short mss note by Charles Davis Sherborn dated 17 October 1889 briefly correlating some of the fossil illustrations with figures from Mantell's other publications or with the specimens in the British Museum [which had purchased Mantell's collection in 1838].
