Description | Copy of the book ‘Fossilia Hantoniensia’(1766) by Gustavus BRANDER, the plates of which are annotated by George Bellas GREENOUGH and including a letter from Miss Etheldred Benett, regretting that she cannot visit London as intended in the Spring as her aunt is distracted with family issues, Mr [John Samuel] Miller has been examining her fossil collection particularly the Alcyonia and has hopes that he will be able to arrange them, intends to send the Society some of her duplicate shells from Hordle Cliff [Hampshire], criticises James Sowerby's errors in identifying younger and older shells in his 'Mineral Conchology', 11 April 1822. |
