Description | Secretary's In Letters: from Evan HOPKINS, Thurloe Square, Brompton, London, 6 Feb 1857. Re: Has been informed that at the reading of Dr Rubidge's paper at the OGM the previous Wednesday, Mr Smyth stated the paper contained references to Hopkins "but that the observations were of too personal a nature to be read". He therefore wishes to see this paper.
The letter is annotated by the President Joseph Ellison Portlock stating that the paper was marked 'not to be read' and that the personal remarks concerned Hopkin's views respecting the non-rotation of the Moon. |
