| Administrative History | James Skene was once a travelling companion of Greenough, notably on the latter's tour of Scotland in 1805.
Referred to in the Ordinary Meeting of 18 Jan 1811 as "A communication respecting the Iron Stones or Moonstones as they are commonly called which have been met with at Balnea kettle in Aberdeenshire..." The follow up paper, read on 1 Feb 1811 as "An analysis ofthe Balneakettle Iron" by W H Pepys, determined that the items were a form of slag and not a native iron ore. |
