DescriptionCorrespondence, legal documents and other papers relating to coal borings in Lincolnshire. Correspondence between Ford, Sturt and Seabrook from May and June 1926 discusses the progress of the plans. Legal documents relate to the formation of the Lincolnshire Boring Syndicate and Ford's relationship with it. The file also includes a newspaper cutting from the Lincolnshire Echo mentioning the drilling of a new boring at Doddington (1924), the proofs of a piece read by James Ford at the meeting of the Midlands Institute of Mining Engineers on 15/12/1926, an unannotated diagram/map and a coloured and annotated printed map of the Doddington-Harby Estates.
Administrative HistoryIn the mid-1920s the Lincolnshire Boring Syndicate, of which James Ford was a part, had plans to bore for coal and build a power station nearby, thus minimising the expense needed to transport the coal to the power station and resulting in cheap electricity production.
