DescriptionGeological notes and colouring by William Buckland, [1813-?1817], on base map 'The County of Glocester Surveyed by Isaac Taylor...', published by William Faden, 1 February 1800. Dissected on cloth, scale 2 miles to 1 inch. A number of the notes make reference to fossil collectors in the area including John Hawker of Dudbridge, near Stroud.
Administrative HistoryThe similarity in the colour key to LDGSL/56/3/4 may indicate that this map could also be part of the research for George Bellas Greenough's 'Geological Map of England & Wales'. Greenough's own draft, which also uses this base map, is at LDGSL/947/6/D/11/4, and has a date of 1817.
ProvenancePresented to the Society by Prof J Morris, 1883.
