DescriptionGeological colouring and notes by William Buckland, [1813-1820], on base map ‘The County of Dorset surveyed by Isaac Taylor, reduced from the large map in six sheets...', published by William Faden, 1 July 1796. Dissected on cloth, 2 miles to 1 inch.
Administrative HistoryThe writing by George Bellas Greenough on the rougher copy (LDGSL/56/3/5) probably indicates that the compilation of this map is connected to the research for George Bellas Greenough's 'Geological Map of England & Wales' (1820). Greenough accompanied Buckland on a four day trip along the south coast of England starting from Lyme Regis eastwards in May 1813.
