Administrative HistoryCollected/drawn as part of the research for Louis Agassiz's 'Recherches sur les Poissons Fossiles' (1833-1843/1844).

Mahala Andrews (1982) suggests that the note was a caption for a display of fossils which accompanied Malcolmson's paper, "On the Occurrence of Wealden strata at Linksfield, near Elgin; on the Remains of Fishes in the Old Red Sandstone of that neighbourhood; and on raised beaches along the adjacent coast", read at the Ordinary Meeting of 25 April 1838. The fish, and presumably the caption, were taken to Agassiz in Paris by Malcolmson in 1838.
