DescriptionLetter from John ROBISON, Edinburgh [on Royal Society of Edinburgh headed paper], to George Bellas Greenough, 12 Feb 1839. Re: Highland Society has accumulated a collection of geological sections but have found the colouring used quite arbitrary and would like advice on a consistent scale and colour uniformity; has found an artist with connections to the colour makers in London, the plan being to have made up specific cakes of foundation colours which will relate to specific strata.
